Barbados - getting there!

It's a long way to Barbados, especially from the island. So off by taxi, fastcat and Southern trains to Gatwick airport on Wednesday evening for our 10 40am flight to Grantley Adams Airport, Barbados. Stayed the night in the new Premier Inn which only cost £40.00 as we booked it a year ago, it would have cost £160.00 if we booked it last week.
Meet the kids at South Terminal to check in for our Virgin Atlantic flight of 9 hours 9 minutes.

This is the luggage a family of 4 need for 10 days!

Go the gate to be told inflight entertainment is not working and are offered 4,000 free airmiles in compensation, but then told flight will be delayed whilst they try to fix it, which after nearly an hour they do! The inflight entertainment on our newish Airbus A330 - 300 was amazing with a multitude of movies, games, maps and the like on a high quality screen.

Eva and Isla were excited, but very tired!

We landed just after 3pm local time and by 4.30pm we were having our first swim in the hotel pool before a snack at Chefette which is a local McDonalds look alike. We were all hungry as the aircraft food was as usual not that appetising.

Very pleased with the Accra Beach Hotel with a spacious room very well air-conditioned with all mod cons. Facilities have moved on since we last stayed in a Caribbean Hotel. Not too bad a nights sleep and we awoke to this view from our balcony
