A quiet day today preparing for a busy five days ashore! Last night we had our first Headliners ( the on board cast of singers and dancers) show entitled Destination Dance. We have seen this show twice before on other cruises but this one was by far the best. The dancers were all together and much slicker than in the other shows: we really enjoyed it.
The weather has been
fine but not brilliant. It has been a mixture of sunny and bright
spells with a shower or two yesterday. It has been on the windy side
and temperatures between 9C and 15C: on the chilly side. For our
first day at sea on Monday we had a fair bit of rain and the wind got
up to force 6: there we times it felt like swimming up hill in the
pool and progress was often backwards!
Unlike our last P and O
cruise on Ventura there are port presentations live in the theatre.
We are going to three today and it can be a great way to catch up on
a bit of sleep! Still time for snoozing in the cabin, a bit of
swimming in the covered pool, and of course eating.
We like the Freedom
Dining: it means we can eat even earlier than with early sitting. We
now eat at 5 45pm which suits our 'doing everything before the crowd'
ethos well. We have breakfast at 7 30am ish and the self service
restaurant is deserted: at 10 am, the peak time it is hectic.
At dinner ask for a
table for two but some of the twos are really fours as the picture
shows!
We had a chat one night with a couple of 'virgin' cruisers who did not really seem to be prepared with the hurly burly of the ship: just as well they chose a relatively small ship.
