PISA

After a good nights sleep we woke at 3 30am before the alarm woke us for 4 30am! In the bag drop area by 5 am. As we arrived on Tuesday we bumped into our island friend, Marguerite. She was going to Greece by Easy Jet very early Wednesday and she said she was not looking forward to Easy Jet robot check in and bag drop. We cockily said we were ok as we were going British Airways. How wrong we were because since we last flew Gatwick South Terminal BA bag drop is by robot! However is was very easy and our tags were secure and cases arrived at Pisa intact!

A very short flight at just under two hours. Fairly clear and we had a window seat so were able to follow where we were. This view looked like Mont Blanc!
and this is the port of Livorno, bit misty

but the view up the coast looking north was clearer

There were no queues for passports and luggage was ultra quick. Pisa is a very small airport with only one jet way so a walk across the tarmac!

Short trip on the Mini Metro - not the Austin - but the new PisaMover to Pisa Station where our hotel is situated.

Our room was ready so after a cup of tea we headed into Pisa, first priority was a Pizza!

We walked over the river Arno

and through the main shopping areas towards the famous Leaning Tower and Duomo.

Not too busy so it was easy to get a (free) timed ticket to go inside the Duomo

Then a walk back to the hotel, but time for our first gelato!

 In Garibaldi Square

We passed many restaurants so we must now which one gets our custom this evening!
