Weather Breaks!

Friday was forecast as occasional showers: well that means rain all morning. We went downtown to the Financial Area with a view to going up One World Trade Centre but it was zero visibility at the top so we just looked around the 7 11 memorial fountains and  Wall Street and surrounding streets.

Believe it or not this is Westfield Shopping Centre called the Oculus
 Memorial Fountain
One World Trade Centre - too misty to go up - hope we can find a better day later in the holiday

Brookfield Shopping Centre

New PATH station at the World Trade Centre
Oculus Westfield Shopping Centre
Normally Subway Stations are dirty and bleak: rebuilt World Trade Centre interchange is a bit different!
 Wall Street
As it was raining we escaped the wet.....

and stopped for a tea and coffee, only $3.10 and in Wall Street!

Broad Street with the Stock Exchange on the right

 Federal Hall, Wall Street

Then a look at Trinity Church at the end of Wall Street

 City Hall
NYPD are getting Smart

So after a wet morning we bought some rolls in Pret a Manage and went back to the hotel to eat them with a hot drink. The weather forecast for the afternoon was much better so we decided to have a look at Washington Square Park

and the nearby University of New York with some fine buildings

Maths Building at NYU

Classic old NY Building with outside fire escape on Broadway

So we took the Subway up Broadway
from 8th Street

to Madison Square where the Flat Iron Building is situated
Then a walk back to our Hotel down Broadway

And a nice meal in Herald Square
