Moving on to Zermatt

Before leaving Lausanne we decided to have a last look at the lake and explore the Olympic Gardens.
Counting down to the 2016 Olympics!

There is an Olympic Museum but this was being renovated and a temporary museum is in this old steam ferry

Entrance to Olympic Museum

Back to pick up our bags by Metro. The Metro has no barriers and is run on trust. There are 'jumpers' (LT speak for revenue protection and we were hit on this journey. A group of seven heavies went through the train outnumbering the passengers!

So on the main line to Brig where we picked up the rack Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Zermatt

A swish ultra modern train with huge panoramic windows

The platform is in the road just across from the main Brig Station
Arrive in Zermatt in pouring rain and find our hotel without too much trouble , a lovely family run 18 room traditional style building.

James and IG on our Balcony

Amazed at how modern and well equipped our room is with a view of the Matterhorn form the Balcony. UK TV, wifi which is so fast it must be optical, tea and coffee making and a basin with a bowl and plug! We even have a bath, but there is a glass wall between the bedroom and en suite with only a lace curtain: why?

Explore the bustling village in the rain: James cannot be extricated from the chocolate shop, which smells Divine but the prices are astronomical!

Dinner at a very good restaurant in the main street before a little stroll in the rain. Early night as we have planned a busy day tomorrow.
