Zermatt

We really like Zermatt, it has a soul and seems real. It is sort of traffic free, with little milk float like electric vehicles, which are meant to be limited to 20kph. It seems like they are doing twice this, especially downhill! The only fossil fuel vehicle we have seen is a fire engine!

This is our hotel's courtesy 'bus'. Even the buses are electric

The main street is bustling, but with no traffic pleasant to walk along.
Most people arrive by train, and because of this there is a large station. There is a huge car park at the station before Zermatt (Tasch) where the public road ends. Not even posh folk in Range Rovers seem to be allowed in!

Station entrance is on the left

Our hotel was in a great position, and had all the facilities we wanted. We had views of the Matterhorn from our balcony, but here is the picture we did not want to post!
A whacking great crane right outside our room, cutting the view of the Matterhorn in two!

Our Hotel is on the left of the left hand crane

Also why on earth did our en suite have a glass partition separating it from the main bedroom?
There are some very classy, but expensive shops: the chocolate shop nearly cleaned James out!

But he still had a little left to spend here.
